Dance styles explained
Kizomba
Kizomba comes from Angola and is danced in a close embrace with small, gliding steps. The styles differ mainly in music, tempo and how linear the movement is.
Urban KizUrban KizThe modern, linear version from Paris — cleaner lines, more figures, often to remixes and ghetto zouk.
Created in Paris in the 2010s: Urban Kiz is danced more linear and upright, with distinct changes of direction, stops and figures, often to remixes and ghetto-zouk beats. Looks "sharper" than Classic; purists consider it a dance of its own. Popular with younger dancers.
